I'm joining in on a fun blog carnival over at Rocks in My Dryer. Each Wednesday I'll post about something I've done that has "worked for me" - get it? :)
The most recent change I've made around here has been stopping my short-order cooking. I never thought I would be one of "those moms" who made up several different things to eat just to please everyone. Don't you love how that stuff tends to bite you in the butt?!
Breakfast was the biggest deal. Each kid eats different stuff, and I eat something different from them. This did not make for smooth mornings - and I need smooth. I'm sooooooo not a morning person. I must say that I don't make my kids choke down food that they can't stand, but I'm utilizing a little "Love and Logic" in the mornings. I give the boys two choices on breakfast. They pick what they want, and that's it. If they change their mind, too bad. We'll have a nice, healthy snack around 10:00. No more making pancake batter while heating the griddle while digging for a certain oatmeal flavor while giving different juice choices while trying to feed Addison. Yikes.
So that's what works for me. I realize that the most efficient thing to do would be for me to decide what they eat, cook one thing, and be done with it. It's just that I tend to pick my battles, and that's not one of them. I save the "because I said so's" for the wars.

Welcome!
It'll be nice to have a new face in the WFMW links.
I don't have this problem at breakfast, but at dinner I do. My husband and I are eating more and more differently and it is like being a short order cook. I can't imagine what it would be like if we had kids, too LOL
Have a Great Day!

Good for you! Your kids are still little, so now is the right time to teach them that Mom, while shes loves them, was NOT put on this earth to cater to them. My youngest turns 18 tomorrow, but in the past the alternative to anything I happened to be making was: eat leftovers, make a PB&J sandwich or pour yourself a bowl of cereal. I love to cook, but some nights the line is: "if you can find it and make it yourself, you can eat it." It teaches kids independence. Clears out the fridge, too, LOL!
